Increase the value of your home by renovating

Are you thinking of renovating your home? It is a good idea to consider making renovations that will improve the resale value of your home.  The key is to bring your home up to the neighbourhood's standard without over-improving. Popular with today's home buyers are the following renovations:

Bathroom Renovations

buyers are looking for master en-suite bathrooms with double sinks, large showers with body-spray showerheads and a separate soaker tusb to enjoy after a long day. A powder room on the main floor is a popular must-have for buyers. Consider adding a powder room if one does not already exist.

Kitchen Renovations

The hub of the home is another great room to upgrade. Buyers are looking for natural stone counter tops, tile backsplashes with glass tiles or stainless steel tiles, eat-in kitchens with loads of storage and counter space. For a quick and inexpensive update consider painting your existing cupboards, replace cabinet hardware, install a new pull-out faucet that is high enough to put a pot under and purchase new appliances including your exhaust fan

Painting

Because it is such a simple and inexpensive improvement painting is often overlooked. Add a fresh coat of paint in a neutral colour with splashes of colour in your pillows, art, draperies or plants for big impact.

Flooring

Today's Home Buyers love hardwood flooring. Remove your old worn carpeting and refinish your existing hardwood floors. If you do not already have hardwood, consider installing a quality laminate for an inexpensive alternative instead of hardwood. Ceramics in the bathroom and kitchen are highly popular with Buyers, especially if they are heated.

Landscaping

To ensure a great first impression, homeowners need to create an inviting front and rear yard. Beautiful manicured lawns, gardens, bushes, walk ways and porches all add to the appeal of your home. Add a punch of colour with colourful potted annuals. If you do not have a swimming pool, consider installing an inexpensive water feature to provide ambience. A rear fenced yard offers privacy and safety for children and pets. A great deck or patio with lovely outdoor furniture provides additional living space.
